Goodbye & thank you, Gigi

Sadly, my mom left for Washington State today, and the house already feels too quiet and empty (Nate is also at work and Cora is at daycare today). It was so wonderful having Gigi here to play with Cora and snuggle Silas, and she was an amazingly big help before, during and after Silas' birth!

Visiting the penguins at the Syracuse zoo
With three adults around the house, we were able to do a lot of fun things over the past few weeks. For her last day in town, for example, we went up to the Syracuse zoo. A few days before that, we visited the Ithaca Children's Garden, where Cora made a grass-seed turtle, and on Monday we took Silas on his first hike at Upper Buttermilk Falls. We also became members at the Ithaca Sciencenter, so Silas got his first dose of science at less than a week old.

We've been eating well for weeks. And we've been ruining Gigi's healthy diet with s'mores and ice cream, of course. Janet and Pete came to visit last weekend, too.

To burn or not to burn the marshmallow, that is the question
Papa Pete is always a favorite visitor
Now it's time to settle into our regular life... well, after a few more visits and trips in store before the summer is over.

We miss you already, Gigi! Thank you again for your help and support.
