3 weeks of Silas

Silas had a visit with the pediatrician this week. He impressed the nurses with his growth: 11 lbs 4 oz (99th percentile for weight-for-age!) and 24 inches long (90th percentile). His head is in the 86th percentile, too.

I asked about a couple of issues we've noticed -- first, Silas breathes really loudly and chokes occasionally. The nurse said he likely has tracheolaryn....(add a lot of letters here) that basically meant a "floppy trachea". No joke. She said his trachea will "firm up" over the next couple months and just to make sure he isn't physically struggling to breathe. OK.

Second, Silas tends to get fussy and seems to been in stomach or other distress every night at around 11pm (lately it's been earlier, though). She thinks he is colicky and said we should keep doing what we are already doing during those times -- not overfeeding and keeping him upright.

But Nate likes to note that Silas is such an easy baby we really can't complain that he is fussy for two hours a day at a predictable time. True that. We love you, Silas!

#1) Jen has always been a health-giving, nurturing wife & mother.
#2) Silas absolutely needs no decoration, but even so, the picture is cute beyond words!
