Still working on the backlog... here are some shots from Andy and Maya's wedding day.
June 24, 2012
It won't surprise anyone if I emphasize that it is hot and humid in Missouri. I think two summers in Ithaca have made me soft, and I was really unhappy in that Missouri heat. Cora had a hard time with it, too. She started getting a little bit of heat rash on the hottest days. Of course, A&M's wedding day was the hottest of the week we spent in Columbia, MO. So to cool off before the festivities, we headed to Stevens Lake Park with our friend Lesia, who took this photo.

Cora loves all water - drinking fountains, creeks, lakes, pools...
and baby water parks rate pretty high now, too |
The wedding ceremony was supposed to be at 4pm, but at 5:15pm the guests were still enjoying cocktail hour and wondering if the bride was going to show (we knew she would, but after an hour you do start exchanging meaningful glances behind the groom's back). The highlight of this time was the entertainment. An accordion-playing gorilla. No, you did not misread that:

| Wow. |
Of course, Maya did come. She arrived with her entourage and her friend Zander made quick and entertaining work of the ceremony in the 100+ degree heat.

Andy was so happy and excited during the ceremony.
It was a joy to be there for our good friends. |
Then it was back inside for dinner and more cocktails for all. We had lots of time to catch up with our old Peace Corps Fellows friends.
