Cross Country Christmas Roadtrip: Jackson

Yonder lies Jackson Hole
What a treat, to see James and Marley in their hometown! This detour was a two-day affair to give us a break from the road.

The first night, they took us to one of their favorite little places on the south side of town, near Marley's house. The Bird does burgers, mostly, and doesn't do kid menus or high chairs (in fact, they have a 500-word essay about their high-chair-free philosophy on the menu). So it was a little unclear whether we were actually welcome there with Cora. But we were hungry enough (and the place was empty enough) that we didn't really care. Plus some other child diners showed up midway through our meal so we felt a bit more at home. And our waiter complimented Cora's cowboy boots.

It also helped that James and Marley proclaimed everything that Cora did "so cute". Obviously we think so, but it's pretty awesome when others do, too.

We stayed at Marley's condo with them, and Cora fell in love with James' cat, Walter. I think it was mutual.

Marley and James gave us the royal treatment -- including a guided driving and walking tour of Jackson and surrounds, and a dinner at Marley's parents house. It was fabulous to meet her parents, Paul and Nancy. I didn't get any photos of our family dinner because we were too busy chasing Cora and later relaxing by the fire after a delicious meal.

But here we are being tourists:

Thanks to James and Marley for hosting us, making us so welcome, and cherishing your time with Cora. We certainly cherished our time with you!
